Guys Night Out

Thursday was a guys night out for the group. Reading and discussing the readings for Sunday was Brad, Chris, Moses and me.

Joining us for dinner was Paul and J.D. We discussed the scandal at the College of the Holy Cross. We discussed music ("Why did rock die out in the seventies?"), the construction of semiconductors, the theory of atomic structure, and all sorts of neat guy stuff.

Why did rock die out in the seventies?

It didn't. It was in a coccoon, waiting to metamorphosize into the moth it became, ever dancing around the flame that threatens to burn it out of existence.

Punk breathed into it new life, with all the halitosis it could muster-up, and its DIY (do-it-yourself) ethic, thanks to such back-to-basics 3-chorders as the Ramones (who formed in 1974) and the ilk that followed.

As for the arena corporate rock that tanked, well, there is a reason why dinosaurs don't still roam the earth.
